Since I have been working on a vintage pattern I decided to ramble through some old pictures and look what i found. My mother at age 14, this would be 1942, she was a fashionista at a very young age. I love the flower she wore in her hair and I love the way she had it pulled back in the front . And is that ruching on the bodice of her dress?! Very fashion forward. My grandmother made all of their clothes, how I wish I had paid more attention to what happened to her sewing machine and patterns.
I am still hard at work on my late 50’s dress. for the Fall For Cotton challenge. The fabric has been selected and the bodice has been cut. There is still a decision to come on the sleeves, but I guess I will cross that bridge when I get to it. Only picture I have to share today is the choices of fabric, Stef has chosen a khaki color for the bodice and a bold floral print for the skirt, we will be covering buttons in the skirt fabric and I hope to make her a belt to match the khaki . With only 17 days to get it finished and posted I know what my weekend will consist of. But that is not necessarily a bad thing!
Now it is off to watch Project Runway and get inspired!
That’s so neat that you have those old pictures, I wish I had some older ones of my parents and grandparents. Thanks so much for stopping by chapter37!
